Creative Cuisine at Claro!

Exploring the venue

Claro Restaurant & Beach Club is situated at the far end of Laguna Village Commercial Center, with ample parking. We were greeted by peaceful sounds of waterfalls and mouthwatering scents coming from the kitchen as we arrived at the main entrance. The indoor restaurant is spacious, comfortable, and serves up delicious cuisine all year round.

Surrounding the indoor restaurant is a luxurious outdoor seating and lounge area, with a backdrop of waterfalls cascading down a rock wall into the pond. It’s a picturesque scene, great for receptions and special occasions. During the day this part of the restaurant is usually found to be very tranquil with most of the action taking place down towards the beach, but during the evening it comes alive with music from the DJ and live performers.

For our lunch, we headed across the wooden bridge and walked down to the chic beach bar for an arrival drink. Once we were ready to eat, our waiter showed us to our table at the beach restaurant area just a few feet from the bar. It’s a wonderful setting for lunch or dinner with the cool sea breeze flowing through and the pretty canopy giving the perfect balance of both shade and light.

Sublime seafood starters

For starters, we tried the king prawns fried in Panko with Claro’s sweet and sour sauce. They were a scrumptious way to kick off our meal with the crispy Panko coating expertly complimenting the sweet and sour twang.

Alongside this we had the unforgettable Ceviche of Sea Bass & Cardinal Prawns. This dish was a feast for the eyes, presented with the ceviche nestled inside a coconut which was laid on a bed of rock salt and pink peppercorns, then topped with fresh salad leaves, edible flowers, and scattered berries. The prawns and seabass were dressed in a delicious sauce bursting with citrus flavors and a hint of ginger.

Masterpiece Mains

Next we tucked into the pork ribs marinated in BBQ sauce, with a side of fries. The chef did an amazing job getting both texture and flavor just right, with the meat literally falling off the bone and a rich smoky taste.

The Thai Noodles with prawns and vegetables were also on our ‘must-try’ list for the afternoon and we were not disappointed! It’s definitely one to remember when you fancy a bowl of oriental comfort food.

The highlight of the main courses though, and perhaps possibly Claro’s star dish, was the Seabass cooked in a banana leaf. The most creative way we have seen seabass served, still wrapped up in the banana leaf it was cooked in and soaking up all the flavor and goodness, this was truly a plate to devour every last piece.

Delectable Desserts

It’s a wonder we had any room for dessert after all the scrumptious courses we had enjoyed, but they looked too appetizing to leave without trying!

All the deserts at Claro are delicious, but our favorite of the day was the Spanish take on French toast served with ice cream made from coconut milk. The texture was light and delicate, not too sweet, and perfectly paired with the creamy coconut and pieces of fresh ginger. A seriously satisfying way to finish our meal.

With the earthy chic vibes, international cuisine and excellent service, Claro Restaurant & Beach Club was a delightful dining experience. And all this located on one of the best blue flag beaches in the area. Visit www.clarobeachclub.com for bookings, menu and info.
