New Year New Meals
Located in Puerto Banus at the doorway to Nueva Andalucia, La Sala offers a sophisticated dining experience with a menu that showcases a blend of contemporary European and Mediterranean cuisine. On the occasion of our latest visit we were treated to a variety of dishes that highlighted the restaurant’s commitment to quality ingredients, inventive preparation, and impeccable presentation. From delicate seafood to hearty meats and indulgent desserts, each course was a memory in the making .
We began our meal with the Spider Crab Changuro, a speciality from the Basque Country. The crab was impeccably fresh, with its delicate sweetness delivering new taste sensations with every mouthful. The preparation was simple yet refined, allowing the natural flavours of the crab to shine through. The texture was perfectly tender, and the balance between the seafood’s natural richness and the lightness of the dish made it an ideal appetizer. The accompanying ingredients, though subtle, enhanced the overall dish, giving it a well-rounded, delicate profile that set the tone for the meal ahead.
Next, we moved on to the Crispy Duck Spring Rolls, which were served with an Asian salad and a duo of dipping sauces. The spring rolls themselves were perfectly crispy on the outside, with a rich and savoury duck filling that added a luxurious depth of flavour. The meat was tender and well-seasoned, and the texture contrast between the crunchy wrapper and the soft, juicy duck was divine. The accompanying Asian salad was fresh, with a light dressing that complemented the richness of the rolls, offering a nice balance of freshness and acidity. The two dipping sauces—one tangy and slightly spicy, the other sweet and creamy—added an extra layer of flavour, allowing for some personal customisation with every bite.
For the main course, we were drawn to the Suckling Lamb, new to the menu and presented to perfection. The lamb was exceptionally tender, with a melt-in-your-mouth quality. It was seasoned simply, allowing the natural flavours of the meat to take centre stage. The oven roasted potatoes were crispy on the outside while remaining fluffy on the inside, providing the perfect contrast to the meat. The dish was completed with a fresh green salad of gem lettuce and sweet onion, adding a refreshing crunch to balance the richness of the meat. The overall combination of textures and flavours make this dish a standout new choice for regular sala diners wanting to try something new - comforting, flavourful, and utterly satisfying.
By this point we had been joined by senior la sala management seemingly equally intent on sampling these new dishes so we sat back and deferred to their expertise on the remaining dishes. As if by magic a magnificent sharing platter of T-Bone USA Black Angus arrived. This cut of meat is not for the faint-hearted. It was a generous portion of perfectly grilled beef, juicy, tender, and full of Smokey flavour. The steak had a lovely char on the outside, which added depth to the meaty richness. The accompanying sides were equally impressive: buttery new potatoes, Padrón peppers that offered just the right amount of heat, crispy onion rings, golden fries, grilled tomatoes, and earthy mushrooms. These sides were not mere afterthoughts but carefully selected to enhance the steak’s flavour profile, each element contributing to a harmonious plate. The béarnaise and peppercorn sauces that accompanied the steak were rich and velvety, adding a decadent finishing touch to the dish.
To round off the meal, we indulged in a modern twist to the time honoured classic Sticky Toffee Pudding. This dessert was a true indulgence, offering a perfectly moist, warm pudding that was bathed in a luscious toffee sauce. The richness of the sauce, balanced beautifully by the cool vanilla ice cream, which melted slowly into the pudding, adding an extra layer of creaminess.
From the first bite of spider crab to the last spoonful of sticky toffee pudding, our experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The attention to detail in each dish, the quality of the ingredients, and the expertise in preparation were all evident throughout the meal. Even allowing for the ever increasing table size The service was attentive yet unobtrusive, and the ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall sense of occasion. Whether you’re visiting Marbella for the first time or are a local looking for an exceptional dining experience with new menu options , La Sala is a must-visit destination for food and fun lovers.
