November Notes
I’m really happy to again have the opportunity to share with you a few of my findings and favorites for the month. In this issue, I’ve chosen pieces that explore materiality. We are often unaware of how a combination of color, materials, textures and shapes affects us in a space; It can charm our senses and visually captivate and enhance an experience. The pieces I will share with you do just that for me and, after extensive research, have been handpicked from a variety of design houses. In each piece I found inspiration through their composition.
Let me begin with Doodles…
CC Tapis, is one of my favourite European brands for hand-made funky rugs. I always look forward to their new collections and what inspiration they’ve brought to life for us to see.
Doodles, a collection designed by British designer Faye Toogood, becomes one my favs from their collection… it includes six different designs and originates from Toogood’s textile artworks. Characterized by her unique abstract style and inimitable playfulness, the artworks perfectly embody the brand’s philosophy of creating handmade artefacts.

Roly-Poly
Faye Toogood is a master in materiality. Her works have been acquired for the permanent collections of institutions worldwide.
I have soft spot for the distinctive Roly-Poly chair. It is a piece that is chunky and stout, curvy and graceful.
Now in Toogood’s new collaboration with Driade, the Roly-Poly collection is also available with upholstered cushions.
From an array of colors to choose from, you can have a lot of fun with this piece.
It can be daunting task sometimes to find a lamp that is understated and makes an impact.
Noctambule, inspired by the night owl, designed by Konstantin Grcic, for Flos, shows just how beautiful transparency can be… Made of mouth-blown glass modules, they are see-through and almost inexistent at day-time, and come to life in the dark, transforming into gorgeous, illuminated lamps.
The Noctambule family consists of hanging, floor and table lamps in various sizes, making it a great and complete collection that serves each space, depending on the requirements.
If you have double-height ceilings, hanging a few in different sizes and at different heights, will create your own captivating night story!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this article and invite you to also explore materiality. Next time you walk into a space, have fun analysing the elements that are in it, and how their combination makes you feel.
If there is something in particular you’d like me to write about in the next issue, please let me know. I’d love to hear from you. Wishing you all a blissful November month.
