It took me a while to figure out that the person I am when with my dogs is the best version of myself, the one I feel happiest and most at peace with, and yet, ironically, the version of myself I work so very hard to hide from the rest of the world. So, as moments of introspection go, I figured out I needed to do something related to dogs.
There's a dream that still needs to be fulfilled, (you probably even have it yourself,) which involves a ranch, a lake and about 200 hundred dogs - but unfortunately, we're not there yet. For that, you need money, and we're working towards it the most wholesome way we can, by making your doggies the most delicious, healthy and functional treats possible. Going the extra mile
As many of you will be aware the the UK brought in the XL Bully ban just before Christmas, making it illegal to own one without an exemption or re-home one after December 31st.
Even though Kelly-Louise Rowden of ‘Fur babies & Friends’ is based in Marbella, she couldn’t sit by and not do anything to help,
“During the Christmas season, our dedicated efforts were concentrated on a time-sensitive mission to re-home XL Bullies and spare them from the threat of euthanasia,” Kelly-Louise recalled. “The urgency of the situation propelled us to work tirelessly, navigating against the clock. Our objective was to secure safe and loving homes for these dogs, countering the unfortunate trend of abandonment resulting from non-compliant pet owners.
In the span of just two weeks, we successfully re-homed approximately 14 XL Bullies—a feat that typically demands weeks, if not months, to accomplish. The expedited process required meticulous vetting, thorough application reviews, and comprehensive home checks. In a remarkably short time, we forged a formidable UK team, encompassing roles such as animal transport, home checkers, and social media promotion.
Operating remotely from Marbella, I found indispensable support in the collaborative efforts of our UK team. A crucial ally in this mission was my friend, who oversees the Hertfordshire Pets scan search & rescue, providing not only immediate assistance but also foster backup homes. While the challenge persists, our commitment remains unwavering. The ongoing problem of abandoned dogs prompts us to continue our diligent work in rehoming dogs both in Marbella and the UK, with the steadfast goal of securing forever homes for these deserving animals.”
Lexi was abandoned with her brother at 14 weeks old, (who we re-homed to a different home,) and is now living in an amazing home with 2 dogs, cat, chickens, ducks and a tortoise
